       SUSTAINABLE FOREST

The key issues of forest conservation revolve around sustainability using forests and the animals and plants that live in them, In ways that do not permanently damage them. This means taking only as much timber or other products as the forests can support so that they will continue to be productive in future years. It also means respecting people who have traditional rights to forests.
CHARCOAL:- Currently 95 per cent of all charcoal used in the UK is imported. The wood con come from anywhere, but is mainly from tropical forests, including the mangrove forests of Southeast Asia and the rain forests of South America. In Britain, however, there has been a long tradition of making charcoal from British wood which only began to die out 50 years ago.
Consumption Products:- The wealthy countries of the world must try and reduce their consumption of forest products in general, and increase the use of recycled materials such as paper and board. In the USA more than half of all the paper used in used for packaging and it is estimated that in under 50 years 3 billion trees will be needed each year. Just to wipe the bottoms of the world’s population.
Plants and animals:- The use of more wood from plantation will help; save ancient forests and also the millions of species are now threatened with extinction, and environmental groups are pressing for bans on the national and international trade kin them.
Protected areas:- Like the animals that live in them, only a tiny proportion of the world’s remaining forests have any legal protection. Environmental organizations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Friends of the Earth are trying to help save forests by campaigning for their urgent protection. They are also helping to inform governments and the public about the rates of destruction and possible effects of forest loss.
